These beautiful timber statues pay homage to the 'mayura' - the peafowl - which is the much-loved national bird of India. A symbol of beauty and grace and long associated with luck and prosperity, motifs of these striking birds were seen throughout many Indian homes. These particular pieces are over 70 years old and were originally crafted and hand carved from solid teak before becoming part of the interior of a haveli in Rajasthan. Simply place on a console table amongst a cluster of precious ornaments of different heights and finishes for added scale and texture.
